The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure inside and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a world-class payload to range ratio for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.
GreenPower has collaborated with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local highway and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can block road noise and wind while driving on the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged within three hours at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on torque and cruise control, while the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide a unique driving experience for anyone who has never driven an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers a variety of other electric vehicles that include a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit or transit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. This means that they are eligible for federal transit assistance grants. We will be following the AV Star as it begins its demonstration tour later this year.
